The German cockroach is a widely distributed urban pest. It is also the most common cockroach species in houses, apartments, restaurants, hotels, and other institutions. This is true not only in Louisiana but also throughout the United States and in most parts of the civilized world. German cockroaches produce odorous secretions that can affect the flavor of various foods. When cockroach populations are high, these secretions may result in a characteristic odor in the general region of the infestation. Disease-producing organisms such as bacteria, protozoans, and viruses have been found on cockroach bodies. Different forms of gastroenteritis (food poisoning, dysentery, diarrhea, and other illnesses) appear to be the principal diseases transmitted by German cockroaches. The organisms causing these diseases are carried on the legs and bodies of cockroaches and are deposited on food and utensils as the cockroaches forage. Cockroach excrement and cast skins also contain a number of allergens to which many people exhibit allergic responses, such as skin rashes, watery eyes and sneezing, congestion of nasal passages, and asthma.
To control German cockroaches, it is important to do a thorough inspection. A cockroach survey (trapping) is sometimes necessary to determine the extent of an infestation, as even a thorough inspection will not reveal all cockroach harborages or foraging areas. Surveys involve placing sticky traps at strategic locations within the building. Whenever possible, place survey traps either against a wall or in a corner of the floor, a shelf, or a drawer, or under equipment and counters. One week of trapping at a sufficient number of trapping sites (ten or more) usually provides enough information for effective control. German cockroaches from entering homes via boxes, grocery bags, suitcases, and the like, but you can take steps to prevent a serious problem.

Our German Roach program:
Our German Roach program is designed to protect you and your family from these nasty creatures. We start with an interior inspection first, this is where you play a vital role in the process by working together with us in eliminating food sources and harborage areas. Then we implement our IPM startegy by placing a sexual attractant bait in crack and crevices near the harborage areas, this will stimulate activity. It is extremely important to understand that in the initial few days you will see MORE ACTIVITY then before, since we are drawing them out of their nesting sites. This is where you MUST have patience and DO NOT use over the counter sprays, as these will counter act with our bait and render it useless. Our German Roach Roach program includes three (3) scheduled visits within the first month and carries a 90 day guarantee. We come so frequently initially because the German roach gestation period is between 14 to 28 days, as we do not know the level of the population or what stage each roach is in at the time of the initial treatment. Therefore we need to attack them aggressively to eradicate their off spring and stop the reproductive cycle, if not, the infestation can go on forever in the right conditions.
